Group Talks
We offer a wealth of stimulating talks to adult groups who want to know more about the town and its history and heritage.
Whilst we only offer a talk on the Guinea Pig Club, we are planning to expand this cover other topics.

McIndoe and the Guinea Pig Club Talk
This talk tells the ground breaking story of plastic surgeon Sir Archibald McIndoe and the club for burned airmen that he formed in East Grinstead during the Second World War. McIndoe developed new surgical techniques to help care for the burned airmen, helping to rebuild their injuries. He also focused on the men's mental wellbeing, by encouraging them to take part in local life, from attending local pubs to meeting local people. As East Grinstead was so welcoming to the airmen, it became known as the "Town that didn't Stare". The Guinea Pig Club continued to provide support to its 649 members throughout their lives.
The talk lasts around 1 hour.
The talk can be delivered at a venue of your choice or could be delivered online for your group.
