OUR LIVES AND THOSE OF OUR ANCESTORS ARE CAPTURED IN THE MUSEUM’S ARCHIVES
Our Archive Collection includes documents relating to local people, businesses, events, buildings and organisations amongst other aspects of the town’s history. The collection includes a wide variety of documents ranging from those from both World Wars, adverts, receipts, letter heads, diaries, scrapbooks, ledgers, invitations, certificates and menu cards.
Visitors to the museum can also search the Archive Collection catalogue on the computer in the Museum’s Research Room and make an appointment with a member of staff to view items not on display. A selection of our archives from the collection can be viewed in our online Collection Database.
The scope of the archives that we collect are defined in the Museum’s Collecting Policy. For details click here.
