HRH PRINCE PHILLIP DUKE OF EDINBURGH
1921 -2021
As Secretary of the Guinea Pig Club, it is with great sadness on hearing the news of the passing of our late President HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Since taken over as President in 1961, following the death of Sir Archibald McIndoe, His Royal Highness always took a great interest in the club’s activities, attending many of the club’s annual dinners at the Felbridge Hotel,
or by sending his best wishes if not being able to join in person, also by visiting the hospital’s Burns Unit on two occasions, together with a visit to then the hospital museum, on each occasion proudly wearing his G Pig Tie.
His last official function on behalf of the club was in 2016 when he unveiled the Guinea Pig Memorial Stone in the National Memorial Arboretum, to which many of us had the pleasure of attending.
Many tributes will follow to honour HRH, but we will remember him as our loyal & devoted President, & his connection with the club will also be remembered within the realms of the East Grinstead Museum who proudly display the Rebuilding, Bodies & Souls Exhibition , remembering both McIndoe the G Pig members.
