Notes:

Born in Wolverhampton.

Joined the RAF August 1939.

On 3 September 1940, his plane struggled to start but he caught up with his squadron in the air. As he came into formation his fuel tank exploded. His hood was jammed and he used the instrument panel for more leverage before he could get out. He came down in a garden, narrowly missing a greenhouse, while his plane crashed into a railway embankment near Margaretting, south of Chelmsford, Essex.

Returned to active duty after treatment, left RAF in 1945.

Moved to New Zealand in 1967.
