Education: Through the Ages at East Grinstead

In 1947, the school leaving age was raised to 15. This exhibition tells the story of education in East Grinstead, from it's origins in the Payne Free School, which was run in St Swithuns Church to the modern system of comprehensive education today.

The exhibition also tells the story of the foundation of the Chequer Mead School, which was formed to help educate local children in the rapidly expanding town., as well as the schools which grew from it.

It runs from Wednesday 9th February to Saturday 21st May.
