East Grinstead Museum has completed its change from a Charitable Trust to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, or CIO.

CIOs are a relatively new legal structure available for charities or charitable groups that wish to be incorporated.  The structure, in effect, allows charities to enter into contracts as corporate entities with limited liability for trustees and members.  Since the law changed in 2017, many charities across the country have taken the decision to switch to this new structure.   There are no changes with the Board of Trustees nor the day to day operation of the museum and its aims and objectives remain the same.  Our new charity number reflecting this change is 1171561.  If you have any questions relating to this change, please contact the museum.
