Museum Talk: Almshouses in General and Sackville College in Particular

In this illustrated talk, Caroline will discuss the history of almshouses in England, how and why some were founded, and their traditions. She will draw upon what is known of Sackville College and its history, and will link this with the history of other almshouses as well.

Biography

Caroline is a guide for visitors at both Sackville College almshouse and St Swithun’s parish church. She has loved history from childhood and has spent her adult life studying and teaching History. She has an MA in Medieval Studies and is working on a fifteenth-century manuscript.
