The area around East Grinstead saw iron production throughout the industry’s duration. The illustrated talk describes the techniques, raw materials, products, sites and people involved from the pre-Roman Iron Age until the 18th century.
A former school teacher, Jeremy Hodgkinson has been writing and lecturing on the iron industry for over 40 years. He is the author of two books, The Wealden Iron Industryand British Cast-Iron Firebacks and was Chairman of the Trustees of East Grinstead Museum from 1994 to 2007.
