200 Years of the Regent’s Canal. Talk by Brian Johnson

Brian’s talk will cover the history and development of canals in Britain between 1760 and 1820 when over 4000 miles of canals were built, with a focus on the Regent’s Canal; its origins and purpose, the contribution it made to transport in London, its decline and rebirth and show how the canal system is prepared for the 21st century.

About Brian:

Having worked in HR in the transport industry (in buses and trains) for some 20 years, then as HR Consultant, on retirement Brian became a volunteer at the London Canal Museum, to experience another mode of transport, and has volunteered there now for over four years.
