Helping the Museum -
Friends of East Grinstead Museum
Why not join the Friends of the Museum? For a subscription fee of £10 per year, you will receive three editions of the museum's publication, the Compass which contains articles on topics relating to the museum's collection and the local area. You will also receive newsletters and invitations to frequent "Friends" events.
The Friends group was founded in 1983 to support the Town Museum by supplying personnel for work behind the scenes and stewarding, and by fundraising and publicity. It has a programme of meetings, outings and social events.
Previous events have included talks about the history of the East Grinstead hospitals; an in depth look at Firebacks; the transformation of Brighton as a fishing village to a fashionable seaside resort, plus many more.
There are also regular activities such as the Mad May Quiz; the Garden Party at Chequer Mead; and the local history fair at the library, plus your chance to help out even further by sparing an hour or two in the annual street collection.
